Bhutan

Bhutan’s textile heritage is woven into expressions of identity, occasion and daily life. Kishuthara is distinguished by intricate supplementary-weft patterning and its place in women’s ceremonial dress.

Yathra wool textiles are associated with central Bhutan, while Bura silk brings another material expression to traditional clothing. This chapter welcomes weaving enterprises, designers and makers whose work carries these traditions or interprets them in new ways.
